Today the five up-and-coming actors nominated for the EE Rising Star Bafta Award were revealed.
The boys are George MacKay (Sunshine on Leith), Dane DeHaan () and Will Poulter (), but it’s the girls we're really rooting for.
30-year-old Kenya actress Lupita Nyong’o is a very strong contender. Her first big screen performance in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave is utterly captivating and whispers suggest an Oscar may be on the cards for Lupita too.
The final nominee is Lea Seydoux, who grabbed our attention with an extraordinary performance as blue-haired artist Emma in .
The EE Rising Star is the only award to be voted for by the public, recognising outstanding acting talent and ambition. Kristen Stewart and Shia LaBeouf are amongst the previous winners and last year British actress Juno Temple took home the award.
