The creative director of Céline, , and make-up artist Pat McGrath have both received recognition in 2013’s New Year Honours list.

The female-heavy list names Philo as recipient of an OBE, while ELLE favourite McGrath, famous for creating catwalk looks for fashion houses including Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior, gets an MBE.

ELLE beauty director Sophie Beresiner says, 'If I think of any editorial I've loved and archived for future reference, chances are, Pat did the make-up. She is visionary, flawless, a true artist, but also lovely, fun, hilarious. We want to hang out with Pat, please. She can do our make-up in preparation for all the fun we'll have. No wonder the Queen wants to hang out with her, too.'

Textile designer and Central Saint Martins tutor Natalie Gibson also takes home a CBE but elsewhere on the list, there were some surprises: Andy Murray was expected to be recognised with a Knighthood after his Wimbledon win, as was Beckham after announcing his retirement from football earlier this year. Neither were named.
