With both Equalities minister Jo Swinson and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg backing Elle’s Make Them Pay campaign – created for the November issue in association with Mother advertising agency and the Feminist Times – we are gaining momentum in the fight for gender pay equality.

In a world of perceived parity in the workplace, women's salaries still lag behind dramatically – according to the Office of National Statistics, women working full-time in Britain earn 17.8% less than their male counterparts (work out how much less that actually is in real terms at www.makethempay.co.uk).
