Unless you're a fan of American obstacle-course based shows you may not have heard of Kacy Catanzaro. But this week the gymnast became the first ever woman to complete the obstacle course challenge on NBC's American Ninja Warrior show, securing a place in the final.
If you've ever watched the BBC's Total Wipeout, this show is a bit like that but more serious, more tough, more jaw-dropping. It's made even more brilliant by the fact Catanzaro appears to breeze through it, barely breaking a sweat.
While Catanzaro appears super human, she told vulture.com that she's been in training for the show for two years 'doing a lot of body weights, circuit training, things like that. There are people that lift heavy weights and thats great for them depending on what your goal is. My goal is to be as light and lean and strong as possible for the course.
'We [Brent Steffenson, her trainer and boyfriend] try and strength train anywhere from four to six days a week. And well always try and do obstacles at night for a couple hours'.
As for diet, the couple keep it simple. 'We definitely stay away from anything processed. I always say that if I look at the ingredients and theres something that I cant read, Im assuming that its bad. We... stick to super natural things, lots of greens, anything from the earth, greens, fruits, vegetables, nuts, things like that. We stay away from grains and gluten because it does bloat you out a little'.
We're mighty impressed by her dedication. Put it this way, we know who we're backing in the final.
