New Into The Woods trailer

Disney tackles happily ever after - realistically

The fairytale-loving kids who turned into grown-up cynics among you are going to love Into The Woods, Disney's twist on the happily ever after story - and here's your exclusive first watch.

Weaving together elements of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, James Corden, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt and Anna Kendrick battle infidelity, single parenthood and assorted other adult disappointments.

Theatre fans, of course, will be familiar with the story - originally a Tony-winning musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics (including a new song created especially for the film).

Plus, it's directed by Rob Marshall, the man who took Chicago from stage to big-screen so spectacularly.

A surefire hit.

Currently in post-production, Into The Woods will be released in the UK on 9 January 2015.
