Last week we urged you to #binyourbra
for breast cancer research
. Now, we suggest you throw out the rest of your clothes too. Well, maybe just the unworn, unwanted, unloved ones. Winter is coming and we dont want you to be cold
M&S and Oxfams Shwopping initiative are encouraging you to be part of its One Day Wardrobe Clear Out on Thursday 3 October and ELLEs on board.
But what on earth is Shwopping? We hear you cry. Its M&Ss clothes recycling scheme - launched by Plan A ambassador Joanna Lumley
- where customers can donate any item of clothing of any brand in-store to be re-used or resold by Oxfam. Shwoppers will receive a £5 money-off voucher when they spend £35 or more on fashion - all the more incentive to have a clear out for a good cause.
The charity-retail partners have also conducted a fashion study which reveals that 25% of us hoard fashion disasters to use as fancy dress and 38% of Brits admit to only wearing half the clothing in their wardrobes. Honestly? Sounds about right.
