Two time ELLE cover girl, and two time ELLE Style Award winner, Emma Watson has taken on her greatest role to date, as the newly announced UN Goodwill Ambassador.

Working specifically with UN Women - the sector of the United Nations dedicated to gender equality and empowering young women - Emma is aligning herself to a cause close to our own hearts: Launched last year #ELLEfeminism has been campaigning in the UK for women's rights, equality and empowerment.

This appointment sees Watson joins influential actresses including Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Drew Barrymore as a UN spokesperson. Proving just how big her reach and influence is, the UN website crashed under the weight of visitors after they made the announcement.

"I have no intention of taking [this role] lightly," says Emma. "Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life, that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting. I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role.”

At which point, she promptly joined Instagram and posted her Ambassador poster as her first image.

Here's to you Emma.
