Drugs, strippers, ripped wedding dresses... this is no ordinary girlie wedding comedy.

Kirsten Dunst stars as Regan, a head bridesmaid trying to keep a hen night from escalating out of control.

But when her coke-snorting mates (Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan) arrive in New York ready to party, all bets are off.

After managing to ruin the dress – cue bride (Rebel Wilson) - the night before the wedding, they race around Manhattan trying to fix it. But drug-induced logic isn't so, well, logical.

When Bachelorette is funny, it's bitterly, laugh-out loud funny.

Fisher is brilliant as the kind of ditsy, messed-up cutie she does so well (this time with added intoxicants), while Dunst is game for a few naughty scenes too.

The story feels slight and the humour too dark for some, but it's good to see a female-focused comedy that isn't afraid to take risks.

Bacherlorette is in cinemas Friday 16th August
