'A poker-playing comic genius who you'll have seen on TV, Coren brings a provocative new voice to ELLE.' Our new columnist according to ELLE editor in chief Lorraine Candy.

In ELLE and on ELLEuk.com, it's our mission to identify, explore and debate the issues that are important to women.

Every month, Victoria Coren will be doing just that, bringing her unique take on the talking points that matter.

In the August issue, sexism is up for discussion.

Coren writes:

On #everydaysexism: 'I think it's a shame that the vast majority of stories are about men making lewd comments in the street. I don't think that counts as sexism; I just think it's bad manners.'

On equality: 'Sexual equality is about having the same rights, not the end of lust.

On gender discrimination: 'This is my small and relatively lucky version of the sharp end of sexism: when people think - as they still boringly, exasperatingly do - that you are less competent, less able or less mentally bright and strong because of your gender.'
