Mr JT’s video: now unbanned

It’s official: music videos featuring topless women are having a moment.

And, unlike Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, which couldn’t escape the censors without some heavy editing, Justin Timberlake’s controversial new clip for Tunnel Vision has had its YouTube restriction lifted after initially being banned for violating its ‘explicit content’ rule.

The seven minute short, which features Timberlake’s face projected over semi-naked dancers, is now available to view with the caveat that users must first verify their age.


‘While our guidelines generally prohibit nudity, we make exceptions when it is presented in an educational, documentary or artistic context, and take care to add appropriate warnings and age restrictions,’ a Google spokesperson told ABC News as the decision was reversed.

Educational? Documentary? Artistic? While there’s no denying that the song itself – which features long-time Timberlake collaborator Timberland – is vintage JT, the jury’s still out on whether we feel comfortable with the visuals. What do you think?
