What is it they say? Three's a trend?

Well, in that case, get ready to layer. Big time.

The 2016 Met Gala saw Emma Watson sport a daring Calvin Klein creation that at first sight looked to be a full skirted gown with corseted top.

In fact, it was a five-piece outfit that consisted of flared trousers layered under a sweeping skirt and completed with a double-layer corset top and a belt.

It was eco-friendly too, made out of yarms created from recycled plastic bottles (plastics are one of the biggest pollutants on the planet) and designed to be repurposed for future wears.

'Being able to repurpose this waste and incorporate it into my gown for the Met Gala proves the power that creativity, technology and fashion can have by working together,' said Watson.

'The trousers can be worn on their own, as can the bustier, the train can be used for a future red carpet look… I'm looking forward to experimenting with this. Truly beautiful things should be worn again and again and again.'

But it's not an entirely new look for the Harry Potter beauty - she's got previous when it comes to the trousers-under-dress look.

Just two days ago she wore a custom-made outfit by British designer Osman to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner that consisted on navy tailored trousers layered under a hand-painted and embroidered dress. It took four people 10 days to complete the embroidery.

Then, at the 2014 Golden Globes she made us swoon over her dress-and-trouser Dior combo, below.

If that's not convinced you to try the trend, we don't know what will.
