Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones star in the gala opening of Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013
After winning acclaim for the romance Like Crazy, Jones re-teams with US director Drake Doreums for a story of music and illicit longing.

Jones plays Sophie, an English exchange student staying with a family outside New York.

A talented pianist, Sophie catches the eye of fellow musician Keith (Guy Pearce), the husband and father who was initially reluctant to host a foreign student.

Drama follows in this sensitive film that captures the stolen glances and hesitant smiles that lead to a potential affair.

Pearce and Jones are good, although their characters are hard to relate to: you may find yourself sympathising more with his wife (Amy Ryan) and daughter (Mackenzie Davis).

Breathe In isn't as heart-swooningly romantic as Like Crazy, but it's an atmospheric, cautionary tale.

Breathe In opened the Edinburgh International Film Festival and comes out in the UK on 19 July
