Not content with four – count ‘em – Oscar nominations, ELLE cover star Amy Adams is now officially a record-breaker too: Man Of Steel has broken US box office records for June, taking $113 million in its opening weekend.

It leapfrogs former biggest Toy Story 3, which took $110 million in 2010. And it's a similar story this side of the pond, where opening-day takings were £11.2 million in the UK and Ireland, making it the biggest launch of 2013 to date.

In the film, Amy plays the iconic role of Lois Lane to Henry Cavill’s dashing-yet-compromised Clark Kent (or, as he’s more commonly referred to in Zack Snyder’s reimagining, Kal-El).

‘It’s more raw, a little less quippy,’ Amy tells ELLE. ‘Hopefully you’ll enjoy the banter and the relationship between Lois and Clark.’

We’d argue that $113 million-worth of cinema goers is a pretty good indicator that that, indeed, is the case.
