You know how it is: you've got a month of Christmas parties on the horizon but the thought of slapping fake tan on your pasty pins and baring your arms to the sub-zero temperatures makes you want to feign illness and retreat to the warmth of your faithful duvet.

Fear not, for Jennifer Lawrence has just presented us with the perfect solution - the sweater-skirt combo. Covers everything and looks cool. Genius.

Last night at the Paris photocall for her latest film Passengers, the actress wore a look fresh from Dior's SS17 catwalk, which was showcased at Paris Fashion Week in October.

The sheer, star-embellished pale blue tulle skirt and and co-ordinating sweater were one of 65 looks in new Creative Director Maria Grazia-Chiuri's debut collection for the brand.

We know what you're thinking: wearing a jumper and skirt is hardly groundbreaking. You're right, it's not, but what is new is the arrival of tulle into the mainstream.

If you've browsed any high street retailer of late, you won't have failed to notice that the sheer fabric - most often used for frothy formal gowns - is everywhere this party season. In fact, we called it back in August. Just sayin'.

Dior SS17 was packed full of tulle skirts, paired with tees, leather jackets, fine knits and flat shoes.

And the good news is it's still going to be trending next spring/summer so it's a wise investment.

ASOS and Zara both have a huge selection right now, or of you're feeling flush, invest in a Molly Goddard number.

Trust us, it's perfect solution to all those cold-weather celebrations you've got coming up.
