Tom Hiddleston will play country star Hank Williams in forthcoming biopic I Saw The Light, it's been confirmed today. And yes - he's going to do all his own singing.

Do excuse us while we take a little bit of credit for this.

When ELLE's editorial projects director Annabel Brog interviewed Hiddles for our March 2014 issue, she drove him home afterwards (we know, we know).

'I had a country medley playing in the car - Kenny Rogers, Johnny cash, Dolly Parton,' she explains. 'He said he wasn't a fan then.

'So I like to think ELLE had a hand in this latest career move.'

Either way, here's hoping this is a real Walk The Line moment for Hiddles. The project is already shaping up to a good one - it's being directed by Marc Abraham and shooting will begin in Louisiana in October.

It will chart Williams' meteoric rise to fame - hits that Hiddleston will sing include Your Cheatin’ Heart, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry and Hey Good Lookin’ - and his sudden death aged just 29.
