Chloe Moretz is back to her kick-ass best in a newly-released trailer for – you guessed it – Kick-Ass 2, which is due to be released in the UK on 19 July.

The story picks up where the first film left off – with Moretz’ character, Mindy Macready, starting high school and embarking on a ‘normal’ life with her superhero alter-ego, Hit-Girl, shelved. Or is she?

Of course she isn’t. And hurrah to that.

Speaking the Press Association last month, Moretz gave a taster of what we can expect.

‘There's going to get a bit more romance, a much more grown-up Mindy Macready. Someone who's questioning themself and whether they are a villain, assassin or a vigilante and a hero,’ she said. ‘So there's a lot of tormented inner self. It's interesting.

‘It's been amazing revising the character and showing her more grown-up and more adult and more put-together. It's been a lot of fun.’

It looks it. See for yourself, below – a brilliant example of why Moretz scooped our Future Icon Award, sponsored by Next, at the 2013 ELLE Style Awards if ever we saw one.
