Beyoncé rocked the Super Bowl last night – with a little help from Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

In the wake of the lip-sync furore after President Obama's inauguration, it was one of the most hotly-anticipated half-time performances in Super Bowl history, but Queen B didn’t disappoint, performing hits including Love on Top, Crazy in Love, Single Ladies and Baby Boy in a laser-cut corset by NY designer Rubin Singer.

And, just when excitement in the crowd hit fever pitch, she was joined on-stage with Rowland and Williams for a medley of Destiny’s Child classics, including Bootylicious and Independent Women – and a chorus of Single Ladies to finish.

The performance didn’t go entirely without a hitch: so impressive were the pyrotechnics that the power in the stadium went out for 35 minutes afterwards.

Both Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson also took to the stage during the Super Bowl – the latter, singing an emotional version of America The Brave with survivors of the Sandy Hook school massacre – and there was also the small matter of some football being played, with underdogs Baltimore Ravens triumphing over the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.

'What a proud day for AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN!!!!!' Beyoncé said in a handwritten note posted to Tumblr after the set.

'Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, Jhud. You are all beautiful, talented and showed so much class! It was an honour to perform at the Super Bowl with you phenomenal ladies. Love, Beyoncé.'

In other Beyoncé news, with the Super Bowl nailed, there’s no time to for the mum-of-one to catch her breath: this weekend, she announced the tour dates for her Mrs Carter Show world tour, which kicks off in Belgrade on 15 April.
