What’s a royal fashion plate to wear when sitting for her first official portrait? If you’re Kate Middleton, the answer is high street – French Connection, to be exact.
The navy tie-neck top that the Duchess wore in her sitting for artist Paul Emsley has been revealed to be French Connection’s Sub Silky Tie Top, which retailed for a distinctly un-princess-y £57 before being reduced in the January sales to £28.50 – and then promptly selling out.
Kate’s known to be a fan of the brand, having been spotted personally rifling its sale rails in the past.
Of course, Kate’s infatuation with the high street doesn’t stop there: she opted to wear a Whistles dress for the official unveiling of the portrait last week, in her first engagement since her pregnancy was announced.
