There's recently been a lot of rebellion against social media regarding, of all things, nipples.

And Scout Willis has got something to say about it.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' 22-year-old daughter walked around topless in New York City yesterday, wearing just a floral skirt, to protest Instagram's anti-nudity policy.

She tweeted two topless pictures of herself with the captions: 'What @instagram won't let you see #FreeTheNipple' and 'Legal in NYC but not on @instagram'.

Her impromptu protest puts her in solidarity with Rihanna – who famously pushed Instagram's 'no nudity' policy to its limit and got a temporary ban, before reappearing then disappearing again – and, indeed, ELLE. (We had our virtual knuckles rapped for posting a catwalk image of Kendall Jenner walking in the Marc Jacobs' a/w 2014 show in a sheer blouse.)

In response to Willis' protest, Instagram told E! News in a statement: 'We try hard to find a good balance between allowing people to express themselves creatively and keeping Instagram a fun and safe place.

'Our guidelines put limitations on nudity and mature content. Once content is reported to us, we review it and remove if it violates our policies.'

What do you think about the policy? Is it right that it's just female nipples that are banned? Tweet us @ELLEUK #FreeTheNipple #ELLEFeminism.
