Agyness Deyn makes runway retirement official

If you haven’t noticed Agyness Deyn’s face gracing magazine editorials or campaigns lately, it’s intentional…

The past ELLE cover star has moved on from modelling to pursue a full-time career as an actress.

‘I supposed I have stopped modelling officially,’ she told the Independent. ‘I've not done any for a good long while now. I think it was about four years ago when my feelings were changing towards the industry. I didn't hate it, but I was yearning to do something different. I was on a gradient. It was a gradual thing.’

Deyn, currently onscreen in Pusher, made her West End stage debut in a March 2012 production of The Leisure Society.

While many models may be quick to distance themselves from recent catwalking pasts, Deyn gave full credit to the industry for opening new doors.

‘I enjoyed modelling,’ Deyn, who married actor Giovanni Ribisi over the summer, added. ‘Oh god, I loved it. Being 18 years old, from Manchester, and suddenly having this new world to explore—being able to travel, meet all these different people, and immerse myself in all these different cultures—was just so much fun.’
