Excited fans packed Camden’s legendary Roundhouse to see Emeli Sandé perform hits including 'Next To Me', 'Read All About It' and 'Heaven.' But what excites Emeli Sandé most about performing live? ‘The risk of it all! Any mistake can happen,' she told ELLE. 'You just don’t know if it’s going to have that magic.’ Last night, the magic was there.

The lineup for the month-long iTunes event includes ELLE’s November cover star Jessie J. ‘Jessie J is fantastic,' Sandé said. 'I’ve followed her career and worked with the same people just after her. She has a wonderful voice.’

‘I think it’s a great time for women who are in control of what they’re doing. Not just singers, people who write music, people who produce. It’s an empowering time for women,’ she said.

Alicia Keys and Muse are also in line to perform later this month at the iTunes Festival, both of whom Sandé would love to catch on stage. But if she could see any gig past or present? ‘Nina Simone, 100%. I’ve seen footage of her on YouTube and it looks so intense. She just loses herself on stage, it’s more spiritual then anything else.’

Since Sandé’s renditions of ‘Abide With Me’ and ‘Read All About It’ at the Olympic celebrations, 'Our Version of Events' has become the biggest selling album of the year, surpassing Adele’s 21. ‘I just felt complete euphoria that it had gone so well,’ she laughs, ‘and that I didn’t forget the words.’

With all eyes on Sandé, her fashion sense comes into focus. ‘I like to feel very strong when I’m on stage, very comfortable. I don’t want the outfit to be in the way.’ Her favourite designers? ‘I really love British design. I’m a big fan of Alexander McQueen. Leaving medical school allowed me to break out and try different things. It’s important to trust your style instinct.’

Rumour has it there are some exciting Sandé collaborations in the pipeline and with future plans 'to get to the next level as a writer and piano player' even greater things may still be yet to come from Emeli Sandé.
