British Fashion makes its mark on the Olympics

From Alexander McQueen to Christopher Kane, British fashion did us proud

The Olympic Closing Ceremony promised to be a spectacular mash-up of Best of British music – but if that was the main act, then the supporting act was most definitely the Best of British Fashion.

From Vivienne Westwood to Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen to Jonathan Saunders, all the big names of British Fashion made an appearance in the Closing Ceremony.

Singer Emeli Sande opened proceedings wearing Alexander McQueen, and from there it was a roll-call of our brightest talents: Jessie J wore Vivienne Westwood, as did Lily Donaldson in the Midas Touch parade of UK supermodels. She was joined by her fellow models wearing Burberry, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, McQueen, Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane and Stephen Jones.

And the boys did us proud too, with Tinie Tempah wearing Burberry Prorsum and David Gandy in Paul Smith.

David Bowie sadly didn't make an appearance at the event, but his 1980 hit 'Fashion' was a perfect accompaniment to the fashion show, and reminded us all why London is at the vanguard of the fashion industry today.
