The Hunger Games fashion collection has arrived

Tributes, grab your credit cards: showing love for The Hunger Games is about to become much more shoppable than Katniss Everdeen’s side-winding fishtail plait.

American mega-retailer Target is launching a high-end line of apparel and accessories in honour of the blockbuster film’s DVD and Blu-ray release.

Along with inviting Hunger Games fans to pre-order the film, Target will offer shoppers a replica of the Mockingjay pin worn as a good-luck charm by Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss. The 14-karat gold pin will retail for $999.

Also on offer is a replica of Katniss’s leather jacket, priced at $349, and a print autographed by Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and eight other Hunger Games actors—yours for $699. The products will be available in 100-piece releases on Target.com.

Hunger Games producers (and Target executives) are the latest examples of a growing trend of tying fashion product to a film’s release—Home Shopping Network released a -inspired line of clothing and accessories, and H&M created a collection based on Lisbeth Salander’s looks in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But Target’s items come in at a far higher price point than previously seen.

With buzz around the Hunger Games series certain to grow ahead of the late-2013 release of Catching Fire, the second film, that brown leather jacket could end up looking like a savvy buy.

So, who wants to dress like a teenaged assassin? Anyone?
