The married superstars top Forbes magazine’s latest list of the world’s highest-paid celebrity couples, unseating Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen from the spot they commanded last year.

Forbes estimates that the couple earned a combined $78 million over the past year, compared to Bundchen and Brady’s $72m.

Knowles and Jay-Z’s earning power may be all the more impressive considered with the fact that Knowles has dramatically cut back her touring and studio activity since giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January 2012. The singer is estimated to have earned $40m from her platinum album, House of Dereon fashion line, royalties and other deals. Jay-Z, meanwhile, has racked up an estimated $38m in earnings thanks to the success of his Watch the Throne album and global tour with Kanye West.

David and Victoria Beckham are in third place, with estimated combined earnings of $54m stemming largely from ELLE cover man David’s LA Galaxy football contract and many endorsements. Victoria’s fashion line and royalties from Spice Girls hits earned her an estimated $8m from May 2011 to May 2012.

Rounding out the top five are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, with $45m combined earnings, and Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, with $40m.
