Lady Gaga is truly a popstar of the digital age. With 26 million followers on twitter and 52 million Facebook fans, she’s been just as successful at pioneering technology to connect with her fans as she has at manipulating unlikely objects into headwear. Another project in the pipeline, (after her recent foray into the world of fragrance) is an even bigger undertaking – a brand new, bespoke social network designed for Gaga’s fans – her ‘little monsters’ in other words. It’s handy that they have given themselves this collective sobriquet, as it seemed ideal as a name for the site itself. - LittleMonsters.com

As yet the site is only up and running in a Beta form where selected contributors have registered and started posting, liking, discussing and expressing themselves through photos of their idol as well as by posting fan-art in many media. The site itself resembles a cross between Pinterest and Reddit, with elements of any obsessive-fan forum. Fans have to register to become members and create an online profile - a fact made slightly confusing by so many of them choosing a picture of Gaga to represent themselves.

With such committed fans in such huge numbers – will the Little Monsters soon be troubling Facebook’s owners?
