'Visiting a new city I believe it is essential to find its cultural roots in order to understand how life and its people are different from other cities around the world. Beginning in Mexico City - a city of over 20 million people - Matthew and I started our day hiking the pyramids of Teotihuacan. The vast Pyramids of the Sun and Moon were built over 2000 years ago for the inhabitants of the area to worship their respective gods. Both pyramids took hundreds of years to complete and walking up proved steep, but the panorama of surrounding mountains provided a calming relief.

Following our morning work out, Matthew and I returned to the city to visit Frida Kahlo’s home where she spent much of her childhood and adult life. Matthew has always admired her style as he loved her theatrical approach to the way she dressed finding her a true and inspiring original. Her home was a personal reflection of her paintings, exuding colour, modesty, and a sense of curiosity.

I enjoyed seeing Matthew inspired by Frida’s home, gardens and especially the Klein blue exterior walls. Finishing our day in the sprawling metropolis it was time for Elle Mexico’s July Cover shoot with Matthew, Poppy Delevigne, and Spanish model Euginia Silva. Tonight we fly to Acapulco where the Elle Fashion Diseña will be held over the next few days. I will leave Mexico City feeling I have seen a wonderful snapshot of what this amazing place has to offer and where it has come from.0
