Domination in the modelling industry? Check. A playful public persona? Check. An acting career? Another check.

Cara Delevingne has added acting to her already impressive CV with a leading role in Timeless, a short film part of 'Playhouse Presents' on Sky Arts.

Cara stars as Chloe, a young woman caring for her great-grandmother. Despite the age gap, they find their lives mirroring one another as they have both been separated from their partners by war.

ELLE got a ticket to the premiere and, naturally, grabbed a few words about nudity and living the dream with our leading lady...

Your acting debut is on a British TV drama, so why did you choose this role to make that start?

Well, I wish I could say I chose it, I was lucky enough to get it. Sky Arts is an incredible thing to do.

So you’re so successful in the modelling field. Why acting?

Because it's always what I wanted to do since I was 4 years old. The first time I got on stage, I just wanted to be an entertainer/performer – it's all I wanted. So being able to do this is like living the dream.

So you prefer acting to modelling?

I mean, modeling is the way I started, I'm never going to turn my back on it. I thank it for everything i'm doing now - without it I wouldn’t be here. But it's not what I love. This is what I love, this is it for me.

Are there some things you’ve learnt from modelling that you've used when it comes to acting?

Rejection. That was actually the worst for me. Because I actually started auditioning for movies before I started modelling and back then, I just could not deal with it. When I got turned down for something that I loved, it would take me weeks to get over it.

How does it make you feel watching yourself up on the screen?

The first time, I just couldn’t. I couldn't watch it, I couldn’t see it, it was horrible. I’m very critical of myself, but you always want to improve, so I think it’s a good thing.

What would be your dream role?

I still think today there is a lot to be said about women's parts. There's a lot more strong female parts that can be played, and a lot more writing that can be done for strong women. Whether that's a strong female superhero, or someone that is strong without being broken down, just to be able to see that would be great.

How important is it to you to make the right career choices right now?

I already know if I look at a script if I have to be naked. There's things that I look for so that I automatically know if I want to do it or not. You want to work with a really good director in a really good cast, but I have morals with what I'm doing.

So you're ruling out any parts where there's nudity?

Well, I didn’t say that...

Timeless will air on 19 June.
