The campaign, a Mother’s Day promotion for US retailer JC Penney, features the three women chatting about ‘things my mother gave me.’

For Crawford, that comes down to ‘unconditional love’. Daughter Kaia Gerber takes a lighter view.

‘She’s so nice and I can actually hang out with her and have fun,’ she says of her mum.

Gerber’s first modelling job saw her shrug into a leather jacket and kicky skirt for Young Versace, a move that Crawford praised at the time. ‘I’m so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign. I have so many fond memories of the time I spent with Gianni Versace and Donatella,’ she said at the time.

Later, however, Crawford had a change of heart. ‘At this point, she's too young to pursue a career,’ she said. ‘There aren't even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she's 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?’

How about a simple ‘you’re welcome’? Incredible good looks are something to be thankful for too, after all...
