The French designer has been tapped to sit on the Cannes Film Festival’s 2012 jury. Along with Diane Kruger, Ewan McGregor and six fellow jurors, Gautlier will select the winner of the Palme d’Or award, the festival’s highest honour.

Apparently, JPG is a serious cinephile—the Hollywood Reporter said that Gaultier hosted a cultural TV programme in France for several seasons. He has designed costumes for films by Pedro Almodovar, Luc Besson (The Fifth Element—remember Milla Jovovich's jumpsuit?) and Peter Greenaway.

Italian director Nanni Moretti invited Gaultier to participate in the Jury. He completed the elite crew with British director Andrea Arnold, American director Alexander Payne, director Raoul Peck and actresses Emmanuelle Devos and Hiam Abbas.

Now for the important part: any guesses as to which Kruger might choose for her red-carpet appearances?
