Met Ball to stream red-carpet arrivals

The most glamorous show in town is about to arrive on a laptop screen near you.

For the first time, red-carpet arrivals at the Met Ball—or Costume Institute Gala, as it’s officially called—will be live-streamed on 7 May for instant audience gratification.

Hosts William Norwich and model Elettra Wiedemann will interview celebrities as they arrive at American fashion’s biggest night. Guests expected to face the camera include gala co-chairs Carey Mulligan and Miuccia Prada.

Last year, the event also known as Fashion’s Oscars drew Beyonce, Madonna, Rihanna, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Coco Rocha, Miranda Kerr and other familiar faces—not to mention all the designers behind their gowns.

Event sponsors Amazon, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Vogue, who also supported the accompanying ‘Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations’ exhibition, will live-stream arrivals on their websites from 6:30pm to 8:30pm EST, or 11:30pm to 1:30am GMT.
