Lily Allen's Sheezus is here

New music video aired

Lily Allen – who, it's fair to say, is known for being upfront and not afraid to speak her mind – last night premiered her new music video, Sheezus, the title track from her new album.

Sheezus, as well are all aware, is a term that mocks Yeezus himself, Kanye West. But in the song itself, the singer calls out her fellow female musicians - Lorde, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are among those getting name-dropped.

While at first it might seem that she's insulting them, listening to the lyrics she is, in fact, wanting the artists to unite to bring their 'a-game'.

'Second best,' she sings, 'will never cut it for the divas….'

Note also the repetition of the word 'period' - something we don't hear being talked about, let alone glamorised on the air waves.

Lily also opts out of the light, South Africa-based aesthetic of Air Balloon for a more basement-Keith-Haring-inspired feel, with graffiti and doodles galore.
