Topping off an impressive London Fashion Week, it was only fitting that this years Brit Awards red carpet championed the best in British design.
While newcomer Lana del Rey injected a hit of sexed-up glamour in a red Vivienne Westwood gown, multi-award nominee Adele shone in a chic Burberry number. But Florence Welch set the red-carpet standard. The early arrival raised the bar from the get-go in a beautifully crafted, couture-like spring-summer 2012 Alexander McQueen lace dress and shoes.
Long gowns from the likes of Stella McCartney were favoured in this newly polished ceremony, strong primary colours were the most prevalent trend, with everyone from Kylie to Jessie J wearing classic yet bold hues in sheer silks and satins. And while Emeli Sande and Olympic hopeful Victoria Pendleton led the mini shift dress trend, Rihanna caused the biggest stir, arriving in a bejewelled thigh-split gown and long leather gloves.
