Every self-respecting rapper needs a Champagne brand to put their name to.

Apparently, the equivalent for retired footballers-cum-global icons is Scotch whisky.

For his next trick, David Beckham has teamed up with drinks conglomerate Diageo to launch a single grain Scotch whisky, Haig Club, with House of Haig, Scotland's oldest grain-whiskey distiller. Simon Fuller, entrepreneur extraordinaire (and Victoria's former Spice Girls manager) is also in on the deal.

'I'm proud to be working at the heart of a homegrown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years,' Becks, who was pictured touring distilleries in Scotland earlier this year, told press.

The whisky is expected to launch this summer. Cocktail ideas at the ready.
