The campaign for Balenciaga’s to-be-announced fragrance represents Stewart’s first major brand partnership. And it sounds like she couldn’t be happier that she’s working with the French high-fashion house.

‘Balenciaga has always stood out to me,’ Stewart told WWD. ‘Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now.’

Balenciaga Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere returned the adoration: ‘Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence,’ he said.

This sounds promising. Something about a girl who wears Vans with £10,000 gowns chimes with the anarchic spirit of a label that lets its illustrious front row stand through a show. Also sensible is Miu Miu’s just-announced tie-up with Jane Eyre actress Mia Wasikowska. Imagine the red-carpet possibilities...
