So you might imagine that if anyone were to cancel a shoot, it would be La Gaga, not the creative team that has so laboured to devise a concept to her liking.

Not so in the case of David Bailey. The legendary and outspoken photographer told the Telegraph that he cancelled a shoot with Gaga, because ‘there were too many rumours about her storming out and being silly. If she can sing, why wear funny clothes? Ella Fitzgerald never wore funny clothes.’

Bailey is offensive toward his subjects in equal measure. He called Prince Harry, who he recently shot for a men’s magazine, ‘not a retard. He’s not inbred’, and said it was a ‘myth’ that Princess Diana was a great beauty.

He reserves his kind words for another royal: the Duchess of Cambridge. She is, he offers, ‘very beautiful’.
