For her first official engagement since her marriage to Prince William, Middleton
chatted with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle
at Buckingham Palace.
The honeymoon-bronzed Duchess of Cambridge chose a fitted khaki dress from Reiss for the occasion. Called the Shola Bandage Dress (at least, until they rename it after Kate/Catherine), its a sleek, neutral choice with a defined waist and demure cap sleeves.
The newest royal maintained the best-of-British theme in her choice of handbag: Anya Hindmarch
s Maud clutch in black silk.
Michelle, meanwhile, wore an ice-blue dress with an a-line skirt and silver floral embroidery by American designer Barbara Tfank. She finished the look with a candyfloss-pink silk bolero and one of her trademark jewelled brooches.
The rest of the day's diversions reportedly involve a tour through the Queen's private art gallery, talks on the 'essential relationship' between the US and UK, and polite avoidance of the fact that the Obamas weren't invited to the Royal Wedding. So much for the scheduled viewing of the after-party video, then...
