The Best Supporting Actress nominee lifted the hem of her gown to reveal a British flag attached to a red satin ribbon tied around her right calf.
The Brit-pride garter brought a hit of colour to Bonham Carters black velvet and silk ballgown, designed by Best Costume Design winner Colleen Atwood.
The saucy wink? That was all her own.
