When the first on-set pictures from the next Sex and the City movie appeared we had one major question - why was Carrie Bradshaw wearing a £70 dress (pictured)? Yes, it's by Halston, from the label's newly launched Heritage collection, but for a girl with a serious label addiction it didn't feel like a perfect fit. The conclusion that most drew? That Sarah Jessica Parker was being lined up to be the face of the new range.
Now it seems that the truth is even more surprising - SJP is apparently joining the label as creative director. That's the same role that Lindsay Lohan took at Emanuel Ungaro. According to WWD the actress has signed a deal with the Harvey Weinstein owned brand that will see her having a hand in the creative side of things - as well as an as yet unconfirmed share of the profits.
Since the label's relaunch in 2008 it has struggled to become a fashion pack favourite, but with Marios Schwab now at the helm of the mainline (his debut collection will be revealed at fashion week in February) and SJP behind Halston Heritage, perhaps it's time for the brand to have its moment.More
