The stars come out for Marchesa at New York Fashion Week.
The front row has been a little starved of celebrities this week with many U.S. designers responding to the recession by shunning the usual celebrity guest lists - and the paparazzi fanfare that goes with to accommodate a more serious and purely fashion focused crowd.
But if there is one collection presentation where a nod to austerity would feel almost inappropriate, its at Marchesa, the British brand famed for its red carpet ready creations. And it made a refreshing change in New York yesterday to find designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig pulling in the fashion forward, A-list crowd.
'I wanted the whole thing to look like a fairytale' Chapman told the assembled press. Job done we say with typical Marchesa fantasy in the shape of hauntingly beautiful feather dresses, tulle and sequin gowns adorned with bows and a touch of gothic black lace.
Perhaps Diane Kruger was present to select herself a gown for the Oscars this weekend - we're predicting that much of this collection will be flying out to Hollywood as we write to appear on the red-carpet on Sunday night.
