Carla Bruni and Nicolas Sarkozy arrive in the UK for state visit

And today we finally got a glimpse inside the model’s official wardrobe. For the first stop on the 36 hour whirlwind trip, a visit to Windsor castle to meet the Queen alongside husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Carla played down her sexy image and fashion credentials, opting for a mid calf length grey wool, belted coat, 1960s-esque pill box hat and flat ballet pumps (pictured).

A far cry from the images released of her this morning, posing naked for a charity photography auction being held at Christies later this month. (Carla was said to be very upset that the images were release on the day when she was embarking on her first official trip abroad as Mrs Sarkozy)

The whole look was a little bit Jackie O meets a lot of Princess Anne, despite rumors that Carla would be arriving with a suitcase full of new season Dior and Hermes looks.

Maybe she will inject a little more j’nes sais quoi in to her look for tonight’s banquet at Windsor Castle.

We are looking forward to finding out.
