Last night the stars descended on The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden for the 2008 BAFTAS, arriving in some of the most shimmering gowns we've seen all season.
Keira Knightly, nominated for Best Actress teamed a whispy tired Valentino gown with an Alexander Wang tuxedo jacket and gently toussled hair while Emily Blunt went for full on glitz in a turquoise, beaded, one shoulder Marc Bower dress.
Thandie Newton wore a show stopping silk Alexander McQueen dress, with one lace shoulder while a heavily pregnant Kelly McDonald wore a gown specially created for her by Moschino.
However, the night belonged to Dior, who dressed best supporting actress winner Tilda Swinton (in hot-off-the-catwalk Couture), Kate Hudson, Jessica Biel, Sienna Miller and Marion Cotillard who scooped best actress for her role as Edith Piaff in La Vie en Rose and best dressed (from us!) for her beautiful Chanel gown.
It was La Vie en Rose's night, scooping four big awards, including those for best music, hair and make-up and best costume design while British film Attonement only secured one award (but maybe the biggest of the night): Best Film.
There was also much talk of the Oscar's last night as the 'will it /won't it' happen question still rages...
