It has been announced that the Golden Globes ceremony which is due to happen on Sunday night and traditionally opens the Hollywood awards season, will not be the usual star studded event we wait up for, but will infact be reduced to a one hour news confernece, announcing the winner's of this year's awards.
This is because up to 70 members of the Screen Actors Guild, including George Clooney, Angelina Jolie and best actress nominee Kiera Knightly will not cross the picket line to attend the event, preferring to show support for their writer colleagues by staying away or joining the protest themselves. (Keira's own mum is a screenwriter and member of thestriking WGA.)
So, with the WGA picketting the event on Sunday night it now seems unlikely our favourite Hollywood style makers will be dressing up for a news conference - or the picket line, if in fact they leave home that night at all.
Rumour has it the international fashion houses have seen few stars for fittings this month - a time that would usually see the likes or Versace, Vera Wang and Armani furiously sewing and stitching custom made red carpet gowns.
Apparantly, Cate Blanchett had already had a dress made to fit her burgeoning baby bump, by her red carpert favourite Giorgio Armani - but the outfit now looks set to languish in her wardrobe come Sunday night.
