Keira nominated as Brits take over the Golden Globes

13 year old Saoirse Ronan who plays Keira's little sister in the film is also nominated for an award, best supporting actress.

The nominations, which were announced yesterday in L.A. by Quintin Tarantino and Heroes star Hayden Panettiere, also included Cate Blanchett for best actress in Elizabeth, Angelina Jolie for best actress in A Mighty Heart and Jodie Foster, nominated for her starring role in The Brave One.

The question now is just what will these leading ladies wear to the big night. Our money is on Chanel dressing Keira as she's the face of their Coco Mademoiselle campaign. However, when she was last nominated at the Globes she wore Calvin Klein, and had two dresses for the Oscar's the year she was nominated for best actress in Pride and Prejudice (Vera Wang and Missoni), so the race is still wide open. Whilst Cate Blanchett and Jodie Foster are very good friends with Mr Armani, so we expect them to be sporting Armani Prive.

We just hope they get to go... rumours are rife that if the Writer's Guild strike which has struck the major Hollywood studios this month is not resolved by January then all of Hollywood will boycott the award ceremony on January 13th.
