Kylie wins prestigious music award

Who would have thought that the girl who first appeared on the music scene, 20 years ago, fresh from Neighbours, singing a cover of The Locomotion, would go on to be the first woman ever to win the Music Industry Trust Award.

But last night Kylie Minogue did just that. Celebrated by the music industry as, 'an icon of pop and style', Kylie picked up the award last night at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, in the company of her sister Dannii, Scissor Sister Jake Shears and a host of music industry big wigs. David Mumms, chairman of the award committee said of the award, which has previously been won by the likes of Elton John and Beatles producer George Martin, was given to Kylie for, "her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity". Well done Kylie!
