Naturally these were no ordinary crusty traveller types.
The millionairess plumped for a hip Romany style party at her Wiltshire country estate, and invited The Devils Horsemen, a Russian Cossack stunt horse riding troupe to put on a jousting show. Not exactly understated.
The party was clearly in homage to her new best mate, singer Eugene Hutz, from uber cool gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello. Eugene is famed for his huge moustache and high energy stage presence and the band entertained guests alongside Russian band The Kolopov Trio .
Ever since Madonna met front-man Eugene, a Ukrainian based in New Yorks fashionable Lower East Side, shes been keen to embrace the gypsy spirit. Eugene stars in Madges debut short film, Filth and Wisdom (no release date announced yet), and she even persuaded him and his band to leave festival T in the Park last month to appear on stage with her at Live Earth. We have a feeling there may be something of a gypsy vibe coming up on her new album due out in November.
