Oscars: And the men wore...
Firth first wore the classic tux to collect his best actor trophy for The Kings Speech. He revisited the sentimental outfit (and earned himself a place in wife Livias Green Carpet Challenge roster in the process) to present the 2012 best actress award to Mamma Mia co-star Meryl Streep.
Other gents also dappered up for the red-carpet do. George Clooney wore a Giorgio Armani tuxedo against Brad Pitts Tom Ford. Pharrell Williams and The Artist star Jean Dujardin both chose Lanvin. Gary Oldman wore a tuxedo by Paul Smith, who advised the producers of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
The award for most unorthodox menswear on the red carpet? That would have to go to Sacha Baron Cohen. The Borat creator appeared on the red carpet in character as Admiral General Aladeen, focus of his new project The Dictator. Flanked by two leggy bodyguards, the Admiral sprinkled what he said were the ashes of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il onto the red carpet before being ejected for disturbing the scene.
