Delicate neutrals, shimmering metallics and elegant fish-tail gowns stole the show at last nights Golden Globe Awards, as the A-list elite shunned bolds and brights for a subtle take on red carpet dressing.
A pre-cursor to the Oscars, if the stars were looking for a stage upon which to make a style statement, the red carpet of the Golden Globes was it.
But instead, Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein Collection, Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli, Jessica Alba in Gucci and Charlize Theron in Dior, all plumped for neutral champagne tones giving a subtle, subdued appeal to the proceedings.
In a nod to old-school Hollywood glamour, fishtail gowns were an elegant choice for Tilda Swinton, who wore Haider Ackerman, and Julianne Moore who wore Chanel Couture. While at the bolder end of the fish-tale scale, Kelly Osborne chose a blue Zac Posen gown.
