Kate's big birthday plans
The Duchess of Cambridge hits the big 3-0 on 9 January, based on which the UK media have extrapolated that Kate will celebrate (probably) over the weekend.
Rumours are many, facts are nil. Some of the more entertaining suppositions hold that Pippa Middleton and Price Harry have joined forces to plan a rollicking 80s theme party. They may have plotted with professional party-throwers Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Sterling, who co-own Maggies Bar and Bunga Bunga.
The Daily Mail, meanwhile, suggests that close pals David and Victoria Beckham are standouts on a stellar guest list. And an even more questionable source says that Victoria is planning to gift the exceedingly lucky birthday girl with a collection of exclusive dresses and accessories. Despite their friendship, and the conjecture that Kate and Beckham may have discussed honeymoon wear before the royal wedding, the Duchess has never appeared in Beckham's designs.
We know Kate has a strict no-freebies policy... but birthday gifts would seem to be a natural loophole. Happy birthday, Kate.
