Sienna Miller Gives Evidence in Court

Miller told those assembled that she now has a restraining order on the paparazzi, and thanks to that, her ‘life has become so much easier.’ She described how she was relentlessly pursued by 10-15 men on an almost daily basis, and said that in some instances she was even spat at. ‘News of the World made my life hell in pursuit of stories about me,’ she recalled, ‘they damaged a lot of my relationships and made me paranoid and nervous.’

Miller was one of the many victims of the phone hacking scandal which upturned the Murdoch-owned News of the World paper, and which resulted in the paper being closed in July of this year. Before it emerged that the paper was employing private detectives to hack into the phones of particular newsworthy individuals, Miller had been so distraught about her personal stories being leaked to the press that she had begun accusing friends and family of selling details of her personal life to the press. She said, ‘There was one particular very private piece of information that only four people knew about. A journalist phoned up saying they knew about it so I accused my family ... of selling the story.’

Earlier this week, Hugh Grant also gave evidence at the inquiry, in which he denounced the 'appalling' treatment suffered by an ex-girlfriend who was similarly hounded by the paparazzi.
