Twilight Wedding Dress to be Sold

The latest bride to hit the headlines is the ethereal Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart in the Twilight Saga. The guessing game as to who had been granted the honour of designing the Vampire-lover’s gown reached epic proportions as designers released sketches and rumours whirled in the lead up to the film’s release. And America breathed a collective sigh of relief when the designer was unveiled to be Carolina Herrera last Friday when the film made its debut.

But that sigh of relief has transformed rapidly into a sharp intake of bridal panic as the news is today announced that a full replica of the gown will go on sale in January 2012 in select Carolina Herrera boutiques – though how many will be created, and how much the dress will cost is not yet known. The form fitting gown is handmade from satin with lace-trimmed long sleeves and a short train. A graceful Bardot neckline keeps the front of the gown classic, whilst the back features a dramatic cut-out detail trimmed with lace, with over 100 covered buttons sweeping down the length of the dress.

‘I wanted to create a magical moment that they had at the wedding,’ said Herrera – who has been a fan of the Twilight Saga since the first film – at the Premiere last week. Herrera’s bridal designs are lauded for their classic femininity. The American designer has designed matrimonial gowns for Renee Zellweger and Christina Hendricks amongst others.
